There’s been a major accident as 2 LRT trains headed from KLCC station to Kampung Baru collided – causing passengers onboard to be temporary trapped and injured.
It is understood that the incident took place underground around 8:30pm – 9pm tonight (Monday, 24th May). RapidKL released a statement explaining that the Kelana Jaya line accident was between trains number 40 and 81.
The statement on social media reads:
“Ladies and gentlemen, we regret to inform that LRT Kelana Jaya line is experiencing an incident, specifically trains number 40 and 81. Our team is mobilising help and rescue assistance right now. Please stay calm and follow instructions. We apologise for any worry or anxiety caused. We are working as quickly as possible to extend aid and rectify the situation.”
The company later added:
“All injured passengers have been evacuated to platform. Emergency aid and rescue is ongoing. Our priority is to get all our passengers to safety. Alternative transport arrangements will be provided. We are working as quickly as possibly to extend aid and rectify the situation. Please stay calm and follow instructions.”

Videos on social media show several passengers lying on the floor, still coping with their shock and pain, after being thrown off by the powerful impact.
As of now, Dang Wangi OCPD Mohamad Zainal Abdullah stated that there are no deaths. 47 are critically injured while 166 sustained minor injuries. As someone pointed out, thoughts and prayers are nice, but inquiries and accountability are better.
