Gwiyeobda! The 9 Cutest Korean Drama Bromances We’ve Seen So Far

Can you handle the cuteness?

There are many K-dramas tropes we love and love to hate, but one of the most loved is an adorable bromance. Whether they’re constantly bickering or not, their love for each other is undeniable and amusing. Full of loyalty and trust, a good bromance is true friendship goals.

Sometimes the chemistry between the men is so good that it’s more compelling than the romance between the leads. Let’s see some of the cutest K-drama bromances here.

1. “Move to Heaven”

“Move to Heaven” presents a unique bromance between a trauma cleaner who is on the autism spectrum and his ex-con uncle. Cho Sang-gu (Lee Je-hoon) involuntarily becomes Han Geu-ru (Tang Joon-sang)’s guardian and helps him run his trauma cleaning business. Despite their differences, they gradually come to understand each other. Geu-ru also helps Sang-gu learn how to tell the untold stories of the departed as he trains his uncle in trauma cleaning. It’s so sweet seeing them change as they get closer to each other.

2. “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God”

“Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” features one of the most popular bromances in K-drama history. Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) is a guardian of souls while the unnamed Grim Reaper (Lee Dong-wook) brings people to the afterlife. They start out with a petty rivalry that involves funny moments like the Reaper making fun of Kim Shin’s underwear. Despite their antagonist beginnings, the two become roommates and start asking each other for advice. They make quite a formidable (and hot!) team when they work together to protect Eun-tak (Kim Go-eun).

3. “Navillera”

Lee Chae-rok (Song Kang) reluctantly becomes Sim Deok-chul (Park In-hwan)’s ballet teacher when Deok-chul decides to pursue his lifelong dream. Chae-rok is cranky at first and doubtful that Deok-chul has the stamina for ballet. However, Deok-chul’s sincere devotion wins Chae-rok over. Deok-chul is also exactly what Chae-rok needs with the elder student lavishing praise and encouragement to his unsure teacher. Steadily, they become an important part of each other’s lives.

4. “Descendants of the Sun”

“Descendants of the Sun” gives us one of the best soldier bromances through Yoo Si-jin (Song Joong-ki) and Seo Dae-young (Jin Goo). Also called “Big Boss” and “Wolf,” they’ve always got each other’s backs whether they’re up against North Korean soldiers or gangster thieves. Given their confidential assignments and high-risk missions, their trust is crucial. They even enjoy spending time together on their days off and are great(?) drinking buddies. The love and respect they have for each other is so endearing.

5. “A Korean Odyssey”

“A Korean Odyssey” presents Son O-gong (Lee Seung-gi) and Devil King Woo (Cha Seoung-won) who are otherworldly beings often in conflict with each other. They have a love-hate relationship as Devil King puts up with Son O-gong living in his home and being an annoying roommate. Son O-gong constantly hangs his coat on Devil King’s beloved sculpture and mooches off of Devil King. Despite all the name calling and getting on each other’s nerves, they end up revealing how much they care about each other.

6. “Hwarang”

“Hwarang” is full of many bromances, which is only natural since it focuses on an elite group of young warriors. The handsome cast includes Park Seo-jun, Park Hyung-sik, Choi Min-ho, Do Ji-han, Kim Tae-hyung, and more! While training, they discover love and friendship. Some of them start out as frenemies, but they learn to trust and rely on each other as they become stronger soldiers. From piggyback rides to saving each other from precarious situations, there’s so much cute to enjoy.

7. “The King: Eternal Monarch”

“The King: Eternal Monarch” displays multiple bromances across parallel universes. First, we have Emperor Lee Gon (Lee Min-ho) and Jo Yeong (Woo Do-hwan) who is the captain of the royal guard in the Kingdom of Corea. They’ve been friends since they were young children and Jo Yeong is fiercely loyal to his emperor. We get double the bromance when Lee Gon meets Jo Eun-sup who is Jo Yeong’s doppelgänger in the Republic of Korea. Things get even more hilarious and bromantic when the two doppelgängers meet each other.

8. “Start-Up”

“Start-Up” centres around young entrepreneurs and gives us a delightful bromance through friends Do-san (Nam Joo-hyuk), Chul-san (Yu Su-bin), and Yong-san (Kim Do-wan). The three university friends founded Samsan Tech together and their company name is inspired by all three of them having “san” in their name. They go through various trials and fights, but their friendship remains strong. You know it’s real brotherly love when you cry because you’re worried about your friend.

9. “Crash Landing on You”

“Crash Landing on You” tells the tale of a love story between a North Korean soldier and a South Korean heiress. Their romance is made possible because of the squad’s loyalty to their captain. Even though harbouring a South Korean is illegal and has dangerous consequences in North Korea, the soldiers choose to help their captain and even risk their lives during several missions. In addition, the dynamics in this group are so hilarious because of their very different personalities and opinions of South Korea.

Which of these bromances do you think are the cutest? Enjoy all of the adorable bromances on Netflix!
