Following yesterday (Saturday, 2nd January)’s announcement where several Covid-19 cases were detected at IKEA Damansara, Jaya Grocer has also come forth with bad news.
Earlier this morning (Sunday, 3rd January), the grocery company announced on Facebook that the outlet in KL East Mall will be temporarily closed after a security guard tested positive for the deadly virus.
The statement from Jaya Grocer reads:
“It is with utmost regret that we must inform you that during our latest round of routine Covid-19 testing on 2nd January 2021, we discovered that one outsourced security guard at Jaya Grocer KL East Mall tested positive for Covid-19. Please note that the outsourced security guard has not been on-site since 31st December 2020 and does not share a hostel with our staff.
As a precautionary measure, we will be closing Jaya Grocer at KL East Mall on 3rd January 2021, until further notice. All staff and outsourced personnel will undergo the swab test. Deep cleaning and sanitising will be conducted during the store closure.

The safety of our customers and staff remains our utmost priority. We will continue to keep you informed via social media. Thank you for your continuous support. Please stay safe and healthy.”
In similar news, IKEA Damansara had been advised by the Ministry of Health (MoH) to close after its store co-workers and service partners had contracted Covid-19.
As someone pointed out, if you had visited those aforementioned places recently, the best course of action is to isolate yourselves at home immediately. And wait for notification to go for screening or if symptoms are showing. Even if you didn’t receive the notification or there are no symptoms showing, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
