Manpreet Singh Pawar, the captain of the Indian hockey team recently married his beloved partner from Malaysia, Illi Najwa Saddique.
The couple’s grand wedding reception was held in Manpreet’s hometown in Mithapur, India yesterday evening (Wednesday, 16th December).

The couple was supposed to tie the knot back in April in Ludhiana. The wedding, however, had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Apparently, Illi managed to secure a special application from the Malaysian government as well as the Indian Ministry of Home Affairs to fly all the way to New Delhi.
“With travel restrictions between India and Malaysia eased recently, she managed to secure a flight ticket to New Delhi after obtaining the necessary government clearance,” a source told Harian Metro. Earlier this month on 2nd December, Illi successfully made her way to meet her dream man in his hometown.
Illi first met Manpreet during the hockey match of the Sultan of Johor Cup 2012. At that time, the 27-year-old skipper was the leader of the Indian youth team. Their relationship became more serious after Manpreet returned to head the Indian national team at the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup Championship in Ipoh.
Whereas for Manpreet, word has it that the 27-year-old had fallen for Illi’s charm and courteous character. Interestingly enough, it was also reported that he was captivated with the hot chappati that was served by Illi at her home on their second date. Well the saying, ‘the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach’ never went wrong in the love story of Manpreet and Illy.
And the rest, as they say, is history.

Wishing both Manpreet and Illi lots of love and happiness. ❤️ Congrats on your wedding!
