We all know Matthew McConaughey for being the hunky dude who says “alright alright alright” in the most sensual manner ever known to humanity. However, this talented actor, who has brought so much joy to audiences around the world, has also sadly undergone some tragic events in the past.
In his recent memoir “Greenlights”, the Oscar winning actor revealed that he was sexually abused as a teenager and was also “blackmailed” into losing his virginity at the age of 15.

In this explosive new book, the “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days” star states, “I was blackmailed into having sex for the first time when I was 15.” He also candidly added, “I was certain I was going to hell for the premarital sex. Today, I am merely certain that I hope that’s not the case.”
McConaughey does not reveal exactly what he was “blackmailed” for but, regardless of the leverage, it is unacceptable in any and every circumstance for an abuser to use force to pressure an underage teen into sexual intercourse.
Disgusting. Terrible. Unacceptable!

McConaughey continues in the book to reveal that he was also molested by another man three years later:
“I was molested by a man when I was 18 while knocked unconscious in the back of a van.”
The 50-year-old A-lister did not divulge more information on this incident either, but made sure to point out that he was not going to let another criminal offence towards him define his life. “The Lincoln Lawyer” star triumphantly wrote, “I have a lot of proof that the world is conspiring to make me happy.”

This is the first time that McConaughey has publicly spoken out about the sexual assault he experienced. However, the father of three has previously volunteered with the University of Texas’s Students United for Rape Elimination program (SURE WALK) in 2016 when he drove students home, to ensure they got back home safe after dark.
A Facebook post shared by the University shows McConaughey posing with students while driving them back to their place of residence safely.
This in-depth memoir also divulges into other personal scenarios experienced by the “Magic Mike” actor before he became a Hollywood star. The Texas stud talks about how he moved away from rom-com films to more serious genres to pursue his passion, why he turned down a US$14.5 million paycheque, and how he “bongoed naked” until the cops arrested him.
Just reading a few lines off this riveting memoir already ensures us that it’s a page turner. The book was released on Tuesday (20th October) and it’s undoubtedly a must read!
