Due to recent Covid-19 cases, the Selangor government has ordered the closure of 1 Utama Shopping Centre as well as Tropicana Golf & Country Resort.
According to MalaysiaKini, the aforementioned hot spots are expected to temporarily close starting tomorrow (Sunday, 11th October) onwards.
“1 Utama Shopping Centre in Bandar Utama has to-date seen four positive cases involving three employees and a visitor,” Petaling District Disaster Management Committee chairman Johary Anuar said in a statement. This comes after we learned about the Covid-19 cases involving a staff of Mac City Service Centre and an employee of Parkson Elite.
Johary Anuar revealed that there have been 2 more cases involving an employee and a shopper. “The Petaling Health Department will conduct a Covid-19 health screening at 1 Utama on 14th and 15th October starting 9am to 2pm. The priority for screening will be for close contacts who visited the premises on the above dates,” he added.

The Disaster Management committee has urged the public who visited these premises in 1 Utama to seek a swab test:
- Parkson Elite’s ground floor cosmetics and fragrance department between 30th September to 7th October.
- Mac City Service Centre on the second floor between 25th September to 30th September.
Meanwhile, 5 employees from Tropicana Golf Club and Country Resort have tested positive for Covid-19. As such, the premise will be closed for contact-tracing and sanitisation purposes.

Do try and avoid crowded places if you can.
Update (10th October, 9pm):
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob later provided an update, stating that 1 Utama shopping complex will be closed for a week starting on Monday (12th October), instead of 11th October.
“This will enable the ministry to conduct screening involving some 800 employees at the premises, as well as for the local authorities to conduct disinfection exercises at the shopping complex,” he said.
