Media Prima has confirmed today (Monday, 5th October) that a staff from The New Straits Time Press (NSTP) has tested positive for Covid-19 .
The staff caught the virus since returning from Sabah after covering the 2020 Sabah state election.

In the statement, Media Prima said the company was notified by the health authorities that one of their staff has been diagnosed with Covid-19 . It is stated that the staff is currently under treatment at a government hospital.
“The affected personnel returned from editorial duties in Sabah on 30 September 2020 and had undertaken the mandatory Covid-19 test administered by the Ministry of Health (MOH). The affected personnel had been under self-quarantine at home since returning, before being reported as a positive case,” the group added in the statement.

The media group has also been working close with the health authorities to reduce the potential exposure to other Media Prima employees. The statement explained that the staff is undergoing self-quarantine and did not visit any Media Prima premises after returning from Sabah.
Media Prima emphasised in the statement that the safety of all the employees is its top priority. Furthermore, they added that all of their workers returning from work duties in Sabah have undergone necessary tests and are undergoing self-quarantine for 14 days.
