CineDrive: New Drive-In Theater At 1 Utama Boasts A Huge Outdoor Screen

The last few months have seen a couple of drive-in cinemas infiltrate Malaysian moviegoing habits. As of right now, another player has entered the fray in the heart of Bandar Utama, and gosh, is it big!

A new outdoor theatrical experience named CineDrive has just launched in 1 Utama Shopping Centre and features an LED screen that is 42 feet tall and 52 feet wide! Wow, that’s 1.5 times larger than an Olympic badminton court! According to the organiser, the screen is also lifted 1 storey above ground level to ensure that patrons experience little to no obstructions.

From the 19th to 27th of September, the location will be screening 22 popular titles, new and old, to tantalise your film tastebuds. Patrons will be able to experience features like “300”, “Spider-Man: Into The Spiderverse”, “Mad Max: Fury Road”, “Paskal” and “The Matrix” (and many more) on the big screen again. Family-friendly or 18+, CineDrive has got your back.

To listen to the audio from the movie, visitors will have to tune in to a dedicated FM frequency on their car radio. No external speakers are required. Be sure to turn up that bass to feel every low rumble racing past in “Ford v Ferrari”!

Besides, if you were worried about discomfort from turning off your engine and air condition, fret not, as the organisers have purchased carbon credits from solar projects which will offset the carbon emissions in the location. As such, visitors will be able to turn on their air condition and leave their engines running for maximum comfort while watching a movie.

As we live in trying times, this moviegoing experience is also suitable for those who want to maintain social distancing habits to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The only people who should be in danger are those at the tip of Logan’s blades. Snikt!

The following are the showtimes for the outdoor film screenings.

CineDrive

Prices begin at RM80 per (basic) ticket. These are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Nevertheless, you can also purchase a VIP ticket for RM100, whereby a slot will be assigned for your peace of mind.

All tickets come with a large popcorn and drink combo courtesy of GSC Cinemas, but if you’re feeling especially hungry, an additional combo can be purchased for RM15. Furthermore, ONECard – 1 Utama’s Loyalty Club – members can enjoy a rebate of up to 15% in UPoints.

For more information on CineDrive, you can take a look at the official CineDrive Facebook page or CineDrive’s official website.
