It’s official – 28 mukims in Kota Setar, Kedah, will undergo enhanced MCO starting at midnight tonight until 25th September.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob explained that this move was necessary in order to curb the rising cases of Covid-19 from the Tawar, Sivagangga, and Sungai clusters.

“Around 366,787 people in 28 townships will be affected by this,” said Ismail. The international entry point at Bukit Kayu Hitam will also shut down. Universities, kindergartens, and vocational and skills training centres in Kota Setar will close as only essential stores, petrol stations, clinics and hospitals are allowed to operate.
“As for those who need to travel abroad to work, you may not do so now. As for employers, be aware of this ruling and do not take any action against your staff. This is a decision made by the government and we encourage you to let them work from home,” Ismail added.
For customers who have purchased tickets , kindly note that:
– If you have purchased tickets online, your purchases will be refunded within 14 working days. No action is required from your end.
