Yesterday morning (Thursday, 3rd September), Air Selangor broke the news that certain areas in the Klang Valley will be experiencing unexpected water disruption.
Those locations affected include Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak, and Kuala Langat. The company explained that this is due to pollution affecting the Selangor River.
As of this morning (Friday, 4th September), the 4 water treatment plants in Selangor that are responsible for supplying water to the 7 aforementioned Klang Valley locations are still suspended.
“The treatment plants can only operate when the pollution reaches 0 TON,” the company’s corporate communication head, Elina Baseri, said. Assistance will be offered to the public as mobile water tankers are scheduled to be dispatched to affected areas.
“Air Selangor will provide updates on this unscheduled water disruption from time to time,” she said. In the meantime, consumers are advised to collect water from public taps and local service areas.
