If you’re a meat lover, you’ll probably remember Mr Ho’s Fine Foods in Bangsar Shopping Centre (BSC) during the late 1990s. Little did we know that he has been running his family business, The Butcher’s Table, since 2017.
We recently dropped by The Butcher’s Table in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur (level 7’s Dining Loft) where we were introduced to the restaurant’s signature dishes. Not only were the pork dishes delectable and top quality, but the environment was cosy and nice to hang out amidst the new norm.
If you’re in the mood for a thoroughly satisfying dining experience, don’t miss out on these dishes:
1. The best seller: Tomapork
- RM 88
- Served with in-house coleslaw, bacon cream sauce and fries
- 35 minutes waiting time
If you’re a first timer, then the Tomapork (which weights 700g) is highly recommended – especially if you’re sharing with someone. The pork loin is both tender and juicy with a nice balanced of honey glaze that offers a hint of sweetness. It’s so satisfying when the succulent belly fat melts in your mouth.
We also like how the chilled and creamy coleslaw acts as a palate cleanser when eating the Tomapork.
2. Signature Salted Beef
- RM 39.50
The Salted Beef is also ranked at the top of our list. The Australian beef brisket here is super tender after being slow-cooked for 24 hours in special broth. Don’t be alarmed by the colour though. While some might assumed it’s not cooked, in actual fact, the pinkish colour is simply due to its cured effect.
Mr Ho was inspired when he visited a long queue at London’s Selfridges department store. He decided to come up with his own version by brining the beef brisket to produce a meltingly tender version. This is single-handedly the best Salted Beef we’ve ever tasted.
3. In-house Sausages
- Nitrate-free, preservative-free, zero fillers, natural hog casing
- Pork options (RM27.75 each): Deluxe nuernberger ring, Deluxe cheese ring (pictured above)
The ring sausages are approximately 300g and are also popular among frequent patrons. We tried the Deluxe cheese ring that contains chunks of Cheddar cheese, which gets juicier with every bite. Fret not, if cheese isn’t your favourite. You can opt for the ibrerico pork, lamb, chicken, or beef sausage.
4. Grilled Pancetta
- RM17.80
Sprinkled with parsley on the lean meat, the pancetta has a nice smokey aromatic flavour thanks to its beech smoker wood cooking method. If you already love bacon, then this should be in your orders too. Best consumed when it’s freshly cooked.
5. Crispy Roast Pork
- RM17.50
Don’t miss out on a plate of Crispy Roast Pork while you’re dining in. It goes without saying that the crackling skin deserves its own Mukbang (Asmr) audio. The tender “melt-in-the-mouth” siew yoke is also served with the special homemade Thai garlic dip, which packs a punch!
Regardless if you’re having a birthday, or celebrating an anniversary, The Butcher’s Table has plenty of insane restaurant quality food. For those thinking of enjoying some porkilicious meals at home, you can always purchase chilled/ frozen products and add your own personal touch.
