Bollywood’s first family – Amitabh Bachchan together with his child and grandchild – have been infected with the coronavirus or also known as Covid-19.
The Indian icon and his son Abhishek Bachchan were admitted to a hospital on Saturday (11th July). Soon after, Abhishek’s wife Aishwarya Rai and their 8-year-old daughter were also tested positive for Covid-19.

Aishwarya and Aaradhya have also tested COVID-19 positive. They will be self quarantining at home. The BMC has been updated of their situation and are doing the needful.The rest of the family including my Mother have tested negative. Thank you all for your wishes and prayers 🙏🏽

The father-son duo confirmed their status on Twitter and assured fans that they are currently in stable condition. “Amitabh Bachchan is stable with mild symptoms and is currently admitted in the isolation unit of the hospital,” the hospital’s statement said. They have since been transferred to the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai.
“It’s shocking to know that one of the richest and most talented, educated family (sic) can get infected. We can only hope the family recovers as it’s important for the morale of millions,” tweeted one fan Jayant Sathe.
“Get well soon sir,” the actor Paresh Rawal tweeted. “Praying for your speedy recovery Sir. Love and prayers,” added Bollywood leading man Akshay Kumar.
As of yesterday (Sunday, 12th July), India has recorded at least 851,261 cases of Covid-19 – only behind America and Brazil. At least 22696 people in India have died from the deadly virus.
