Earlier this morning (Monday, 1st June), a motorcyclist was killed when a car crashed into him along the Sultan Iskandar Highway heading towards Kuala Lumpur.
The victim, identified as Mohamed Zaili Mohamed, was heading home to Bukit Antarabangsa, Ampang when he met his untimely death. He was only 44 years old.
According to reports, Zaili was driving a red motorcycle of the Honda Ex5 model to deliver home-cooked food by his wife. After the delivery, the rider was rammed by a dark blue Nissan Grand Livina on the highway and was thrown to the road shoulder.
Unfortunately, his motorcycle was stuck under the vehicle and he got dragged for 2km from the crash site. The Nissan driver, aged 21, only stopped his car under the Titiwangsa Light Rail Transit Station when members of the public intervened.
Although photos show a FoodPanda food delivery pack, Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Zulkefly Yahya told MalayMail that Zaili isn’t under the food delivery service.
The suspect was later brought to the Jalan Tun HS Lee police station, and screening tests showed alcohol content in the man’s breath. The case is currently being investigate under Section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
