Oopsie! Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun (雷军) was recently caught red-handed by netizens on Weibo when he was exposed of using an iPhone for his recent update.
According to Gizmochina, Lei Jun posted a photo of a few books on Weibo. In his caption, he was encouraging followers to spend their money on reading materials. Realising the mishap, he then removed the status and uploaded the same post using a Xiaomi 10 Pro phone.
However, a few internet users had screenshot the Weibo post and it has since went viral across social media. The billionaire has in turn received quite the backlash from keyboard warriors. In this case, some claimed that Lei Jun was being disrespectful to fans for using a phone from a competing brand.
Despite the massive uproar from particularly Android phone users, a few came to his defence by saying that they should just let Lei Jun’s error slip this time. Well, this isn’t the first case where a CEO from a competitor brand encountered such situation. Huawei CEO Ren Zhengfei and his family, for example, admitted that they’ve been using iPhone. They even praised its ecosystem feature.
To quote the tech site, “No wonder the MIUI interface looks undoubtedly similar with iOS.”
