Now that we’ve entered the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO), some are starting to experience some normalcy again.
Having said that, certain red zone areas in the Klang Valley are still placed under lockdown, or Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO). This morning (Tuesday, 5th May), 3 additional areas have been added to the list.
The Sun reported that Jalan Raja Bot, near the Chow Kit Market, and 2 housing estates – Taman Desa Bakti and Taman Wilayah – in Selayang are now under EMCO. Both of the neighbourhoods in Selayang were fenced up last night. This is to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.
Reports show that 40% of the residential population in Taman Wilayah are foreign workers while 60% of Taman Desa Bukti’s residence are foreigners. Those living in Chow Kit also found themselves surrounded by barbed wire after 16 new Covid-19 cases came from the vicinity.
Update (6th May):
Minister of Defence Ismail Sabri has since clarified that the aforementioned locations are not on lockdown but under tight supervision.
