Song Kye Hyo (송혜교) has found herself in a tricky situation, because of her most recent update on her Instagram account. The famed starlet, along with her bestie Yoo Ah In (유아인), took to their Instagram accounts to show their love and support for the city of Wuhan, China.
Amidst the growing concerns surrounding the coronavirus outbreak, the duo posted a short clip that shows an image of the earth, along with the phrase “Love for Human” being shifted to “Love for Wuhan”.

While Ah In’s update has been showered with numerous appraisals from his 1.6 million followers, Hye Kyo’s post has in turn further enraged Chinese netizens. In this case, the “That Winter, The Wind Blows” actress has been slammed for her failed attempt in donating funds to fight against the outbreak.
Soon after, Hye Kyo became one of the trending topics on Weibo. Many netizens have continued to criticise her online, as reported by Oriental Daily. Some of the highlighted comments include:
- “Encouraging Wuhan will not ease the epidemic.”
- “This also can be trending? Have you donated.”
- “What is it (about your post) that’s so touching?”
- “One message can win goodwill and continue to earn money, it is easy for her to earn Chinese money.”
In response to the ongoing backlash, Hye Kyo has disabled her comments section, presumably to avoid from being further slammed by Chinese internet trolls.
