The government has decided to temporarily suspend all immigration facilities from China – especially those from Wuhan as well as the Hubei Province.
The announcement was made via an official press statement that was uploaded by our Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad on his Twitter account. Feel free to read it here:
Kerajaan juga ingin mengingatkan kepada semua pihak agar tidak menyebarkan maklumat yang tidak sah atau palsu berkenaan novel koronavirus ini yang boleh menyebabkan ketidaktenteraman kepada masyarakat umum.

Additionally, Tun M reminded everyone to not spread any invalid news surrounding the recent Wuhan coronavirus outbreak. This is because such false reports might bring discomfort among the local community.
In response, a number of netizens have expressed their excitement and relief upon hearing the latest news. However, there are some who still feel dissatisfied and argued that the government should have banned the whole mainland instead. Check out some of their reactions here:
Based on the lengthy statement above, the immigration facility will be “reinstated” once the situation has fully recovered from the outbreak. In the meantime, please stay safe, guys!
