Oh no! FT Island guitarist Song Seung Hyun (송승현) has sadly exited the K-rock band.
The shocking announcement was made official by the group’s home label, FNC Entertainment on Tuesday (24th December).
The entertainment agency stated that the 27-year-old has decided to not follow his fellow members’ footsteps – Lee Hong Ki, Choi Min Hwan and Lee Jae Jin – in renewing their exclusive contracts with the company, ultimately parting his ways with FT Island.
In light of the unfortunate news, all of his fellow teammates have taken to their Instagram accounts to bid their farewell to Seung Hyun as well as thanked him for staying by their sides for more than a decade in the industry.
Check out their bittersweet messages here:

Drummer Choi Min Hwan posted a selfie photo of him with Seung Hyun, along with a heartfelt message that reads:
“Our Seung Hyun-ie who I’ve spent over 10 years with as we cried and laughed. When I look back now, I’ve seen so many things that have happened and so many memories. The thing I want to say more than anything else is that as a member and as a friend, you’ve worked harder than anyone during that time. I’ve been so grateful, and I love you. We’ll always support your future, and we’ll keep protecting this spot and wait as we remember the days we stood on stage together! I’ve been so grateful for the times we’ve been together, and I love you a lot, Seung Hyun!!”

Bassist Lee Jae Jin – who will be enlisting in the military next month – also took to his Instagram to address the unfortunate news. The 28-year-old posted a photo of his handwritten letter. Feel free to read the lengthy content here:
“To Primadonna (FT Island fans), I’m worried about our fans who must be very surprised by the sudden news, and I’m very sorry. It seems we weren’t able to keep our promise to always be together to protect FT Island upon your request. With a heavy heart. I’m sorry for expressing the feelings in my heart like this in a post.
Our Seung Hyun is leaving the team now to start a new journey. As someone who has been with him for a long time as a fellow member and brother, I’m upset and my heart aches over the fact that we’ll be going on separate ways from now on. But I am going to support his decision, which he made after a long time of worrying about it.
“I want to use this letter as an opportunity to once again say thank you to Seung Hyun, who has always been cheerful and responsible and has always worked hard. We’re going through yet another farewell before our recent wound has healed, but I’m going to brush off that pain for now.
We will protect our spot and firmly go forward for the sake of our Primadonna who will be having an even harder time than anyone else as well as for Seung Hyun. We will continue to remain like this and wait together so that he can come back at any time.
I really hope that Seung Hyun will spend a happy and meaningful time as he embarks on his new journey in finding himself. Everyone, please give your full support and wait for him together with us!
Last say, I believe that the warm spring will come after the cold winter goes. Thank you and I love you.
– FTISLAND’s Lee Jae Jin.”
Fingers crossed that he can make his return to the group in the future. All the best in your future career, Song Seung Hyun. :'(
