Yesterday, famous celebrity entrepreneur Datin Vivy Yusof announced on social media that she has been to the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) board of directors.
The 31-year-old, who is the founder of FashionValet, dUCK Scarves and dUCK Cosmetics, expressed her disbelief and gratitude for getting the role.
“Alhamdulillah, I’ve been given a huge task from the Minister of Education now as the youngest Board Member of UiTM, a beloved university in Malaysia,” she wrote on her Instagram post.
Many celebrity friends such Siti Nurhaliza, Nora Danish, Fazura, and more congratulated the beauty entrepreneur for her new milestone. However, not everyone is happy about the news.
She’s a London School of Economic Law’s product for fuck sake, UiTM.
Just bcs Khazanah injected few million Series C funds on FV to boost local brands (or Bumiputera?) doesn’t give her rights to be part of UiTM institution. I’m sorry Vivy.
Banyak lagi kot product UiTM lain ? https://t.co/ops2UrYSpE

What Vivy’s supporters don’t understand is that UiTM should get their alumni who’s just as succesful as Vivy just so that the students have someone that is reasonable to look up to. Ini tak, ambik orang yang ada privilege untuk study jauh ??♂️

Several netizens have took to social media to complain about Vivy’s involvement with UiTM, mostly because she is not a graduate from UiTM or any local university. In fact, she’s a graduate from a university in London.
Many netizens are saying that there are other more deserving people such as Rizman Ruzaini, Rizalman, Yuna and Hatta Dolmat, who are all alumni of UiTM.
SO VIVY IS NOW ONE OF UiTM DIRECTORS?
I’m not @vivyyusof’s fan and I’ve been attacked on Twitter by her dUCk fans but I believe she deserves every right to be appointed as such. Here’s why pic.twitter.com/GplGLVTy41

Nevertheless, fans and supporters of Vivy and her products have come out to defend the businesswoman and explain why she deserves the role.
Anyway, we congratulate Vivy for her new role and we’re confident that she will do great as one of the Board of Directors in UiTM.
