Next week is going to be a challenge for many cause we’re about to face another wave of water disruption.
Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) announced yesterday that the major water cut will take place on 24th April (Wednesday) onwards and will affect 4 million consumers. This is due to the shut down of the Selangor River Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant for upgrading works.
The water disruption will affect 577 areas, within 6 districts (including Klang, Shah Alam, Petaling, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Kuala Langat and Kuala Selangor) in the Klang Valley area. Do note several locations may take up to 86 hours for full restoration of water supply. That’s 4 freaking days!
Consumers are advised to store water over the weekend to prepare for the upcoming water cut and also avoid wasting water. “Air Selangor expects about 50 per cent of the affected areas will start receiving piped water supply again in 24 hours,” said
The National Water Services Commission (SPAN).
Check to see if your area is affected and for how long:
1. Klang/Shah Alam
2. Kuala Lumpur
3. Petaling
4. Gombak
5. Kuala Langat
6. Kuala Selangor
You know the drill, use water sparingly and store enough for use when the water disruption takes place. If your gym or local sports centre isn’t affected, take advantage of it and sneak some showers there.
