Filipino fast food franchise Jollibee plans to open over 100 outlets in Malaysia within the next 10 years, with more shops in Sabah and Sarawak.
The franchise’s venture in Malaysia started with its first branch opening in Sabah’s Centre Point Sabah shopping centre in December last year due to the state’s sizeable Filipino community, and the branch reportedly received “overwhelming response”.

“We believe that we can appeal to the diversity as we have seen in other countries where Jollibee has been successful, such as Vietnam, Brunei, Hong Kong and Singapore,” said president and head of JFC International Business for Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Australia, Dennis Flores.
Started in 1978, Jollibee is known to be the world’s largest and fastest growing Asian restaurant company. Some of the chain’s bestsellers include the Yumburger, Chicken Joy, Jolly Spaghetti, Jolly Hotdog and more.

According to Borneo Post, Jollibee’s president Dennis Flores’ aim is to have the chain listed as one of the top five restaurant companies in the world. It is currently at 11th place.
