Do you rely on public transport – particularly KTM – on a regular basis? If the answer is yes, then we’ve got good news for you.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook announced last night (Wednesday, 20th February) who use the KTM Komuter service will get to enjoy a 20% fare discount starting from 1st April 2019 onwards.
The objective of this initiative is to help reduce the cost of living for citizens and hopefully encourage more people to take KTM. This comes after it was revealed that KTM Komuter users have dropped as a result of ongoing railway upgrading projects.
“Malaysian citizens who use the cashless transaction system at commuter stations, and are already enjoying a 20% discount, will get another 20% discount, meaning they get a discount of 40%,” Loke was quoted as saying. The discount is expected to benefit approximately 94,000 commuters daily.
Would you start taking KTM on April onwards when it’s cheaper?
