Malaysian artist Jimmy Tan (陈吉米) from RED People talent management founded by Namewee, was believed to have committed suicide after his body was found in his room this morning. He was 24 years old.
The news was confirmed when a WhatsApp conversation of RED People Family has been going around on social media. In the message, fellow RED People artist Charles Tee confirmed that Tan has committed suicide.
“Jimmy has passed away. Tomorrow, I will be doing some fundraising activity. His sister has limited income, so I hope everyone can help as well,” he wrote.
Many celebrity friends have also shared their condolences and tributes to the late artist.
RED People also released an official statement, confirming the artist’s death. “On 14th February 2019, Jimmy Tan Sia Hong has passed away. He was 24 years old.”
“Jimmy Tan was RED People’s first generation artist. He was very talented in acting and hosting, and he had a funny and happy personality,” read the statement.
“However this morning, he was found dead in his room. According to the autopsy report, it was a sudden death. The news has surprised not only his friends and family, but also his long-supporting fans.”
The talent management also revealed that they will be raising funds for Jimmy Tan’s funeral, and those who are interested can also make donations.
