Award-winning, Melbourne-inspired local cafe, Garage 51 always strives to create a refreshing menus and food options that reflect a certain occasion or festivity, which is why for Christmas, cafe owners Choong Kar Heng and Choong Kar Wai, have came up with a Christmas-themed afternoon tea set for guests to enjoy a Christmas luxury indulgence.
According to the Choongs, the new Christmas menu was inspired from the classic English afternoon tea. But since high tea menu can be quite pricey, the brothers decided to make their menu affordable yet worthwhile, considering that most of their patrons are youngsters, students and families.
“We want our guests to be able to enjoy a luxurious high tea session at an affordable price. The Christmas menu has a delicate balance of taste which include sweetness, sourness and saltiness. Plus, it is perfectly healthy,” co-founder Choong Kar Heng commented.
Diners can enjoy a variety of classic high tea menu including delicate finger sandwiches, freshly baked scones with jam and cream, adorable cupcakes, mouth-watering canapies, sweet jellies and more. The set is beautifully presented on a wooden table, making it perfect for Instagram shots and moments.
Hype Malaysia was recently invited to sample the festive menu and we were very much satisfied with the result. For one, the set can definitely be shared among 3 or 4 people as it comes in generous portion and a variety of food items. Also, as mentioned by Kar Heng, the food combination in the menu certainly balanced the flavour of sweet, sour and salty. Not to mention, some of the food items allow diners to play around and have fun too!
