Taron Egerton is currently making headlines thanks to his lead role in “Robin Hood“. Besides that, his love life has also been under scrutiny lately.
A few weeks ago, the hunky Brit caused a frenzy among fans when he posted a photo of a friend with the caption, “Cutie. My Boy”. Many assumed that was Egerton coming out when he liked a comment that asked “does that mean he’s got a boyfriend now?” – netizens weren’t sure if it was sincere or a joke.
Egerton recently cleared the air when speaking with Radio Times. “One of the lads was at my London flat and I Instagrammed a picture of him and said ’Look at this cutie,’ and a million outlets reported I was coming out as gay,” he was quoted as saying.
“I’m not gay, but two of my mates came out when I was 15, and it was a joy to support them because, as a group, we are all secure in who we are. I’m certainly not going to stop calling my mates cuties and gorgeous, because they are cuties and they are gorgeous,” the Hollywood A-lister added.
As for his romantic life, the English actor recently parted ways with Emily Thomas, his British producer girlfriend of 2 years. They started dating back in November 2016. Egerton also shared how his breakup impacted him when he was filming “Rocketman”, in which he plays Sir Elton John in the upcoming new biopic.
“I found it quite liberating because I just finished the Elton John thing and had this awful hair. So, I shaved my hair cos they had thinned it right out and given me this bald patch. It was very cathartic and also, not to put a downer on things, I split up with my girlfriend not long ago and it weirdly felt a bit like reinvention… to sort of change the way I look,” the heartthrob revealed.
So is he currently looking for love? Sorry ladies, but the answer is no. “I have just become single again and I’m not in a place where I’m thinking about dating, but when I am, it will probably affect my thinking a bit. There are certainly situations where I avoid being alone with certain people,” the handsome action star commented.
Are you still excited to see Egerton play a gay icon though?
