A new key character has been introduced in the upcoming “Fantastic Beasts 2” and she is none other than Professor Minerva McGonagall, the head of Gryffindor House but only younger and will be played by Irish actress Fiona Glascott.
While it is exciting to see familiar characters from the “Harry Potter” series appearing in “Fantastic Beasts”, this particular one seems to be causing rage among Potterheads as she is said to be breaking the “Harry Potter” canon.
How so? Well, according to the “Harry Potter” lore, Professor McGonagall was not supposed to exist during the time that “The Crimes of Grindelwald” as it happened in 1927, and McGonagall is supposed to be born in 1935.
Also, fans said that McGonagall becomes a student at Hogwarts in 1947 but the actress playing the role in “Fantastic Beasts 2” seems to be someone in her 30s, so this really ruins the continuity problem in the “Harry Potter” series.

However, some fans have speculated that the Minerva McGonagall in “Fantastic Beasts” may not be the same Professor McGonagall that we know from “Harry Potter”, instead she could McGonagall’s great grandmother who was also called Minerva.
Anyway, guess we will only find out when the movie comes out.
