2 weeks ago, fans around the world were delighted to know that Westlife’s comeback was finally being set in motion.
Yesterday evening (Thursday, 4th October), music lovers were treated with 2 things – an official snapshot from their photoshoot and a teaser clip announcing new music and the highly-anticipated reunion tour.
According to The Irish Sun, manager Louis Walsh revealed that the quartet will released their brand new single next month. There have been claims that their comeback single is penned by Grammy-winning artist Ed Sheeran.
In the announcement video below, Shane Filan, Kian Egan, Mark Feehily and Nicky Byrne take their seats on their trademark stools. However, the absence of original member Brian McFadden was felt. Turns out, he was never asked to return.
Metro UK claims that McFadden is busy competing on the “Dancing On Ice” competition. In addition, he has also been working on his solo record while touring as part of Boyzlife with Keith Duffy. “I think Brian has made it widely known that he’s not expressed any desire to go back into Westlife so the topic has never been broached. He’s currently really focused on his solo album, which he’s just finished recording and is preparing for release,” a spokesperson said.
As for Westlife’s full-length album, fans may have to wait till next year. Word on the street has it that it’ll come out just before their tour kicks off from May to July.
