Syamsul Yusof’s horror sequel “Munafik 2” has a high chance of beating the record sets by “Hantu Kak Limah” as the movie sets a whole new record over the Merdeka weekend with a total earning of RM21.6 million in mere 4 days.
Now, the movie which is produced by Skop Productions and President Production, has the highest earning on its sneak preview and highest opening weekend in history with accumulation earnings from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
“Munafik 2” is expected to surpass the number set by “Hantu Kak Limah” which is currently the highest grossing film in Malaysia – earning more than RM35 million according to Star2, as the horror sequel is currently number 2 on the list and it has only been less than a week since the movie is released in cinemas.
Though the movie has just been released in cinemas, director and actor Syamsul Yusof has already confirmed that a third film is currently in the making and it will focus on “Ustaz Adam’s battles against hypocritical teachers,” he said as quoted by New Straits Times.
The director-actor also set to release his film in other Southeast Asian countries including Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.
