Hijabi contestant of Miss Universe New Zealand, Nurul Shamsul finished at 5th place in the beauty pageant competition which took place during the weekend.
The Malaysia-born beauty revealed other social media that she is grateful and overjoyed with her achievement, adding that this is only the beginning of her journey.
Nurul’s achievement has made her the 1st hijabi and muslim contestant that made it into the Top 5 finals of Miss Universe competition.
During the finals, the 20-year-old Muslim contestant donned a long sleeve cream-coloured jersey dress with sheer cape and a matching hijab.

27-year-old Estelle Curd from Wellington was crowned Miss Universe New Zealand 2018. Milena Taryan was 1st runner up, Lucy Brock was named the 2nd runner up, Jewel Harris won the 3rd runner up title, and Nurul achieved 4th runner up position.
