Malaysian actress Izara Aishah recently came under fire when she uploaded a “controversial” photo on Instagram during Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
One picture in particular drew a ton of criticism and negative responses from the public. It was a snapshot of her hugging Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in an affectionate manner. Many thought it was inappropriate.
Following the backlash, Izara took to Instagram to offer a public apology to Dr Mahathir, Siti Hasmah, and their family. She wrote:
“Just like most Malaysians, I am always in awe every time I see YAB Tun Mahathir. A few days ago was no different, but I may have taken it a bit too far by posting a private moment during our family’s Raya visit. I regret that some have reacted negatively towards my posting, and to YAB Tun and family, I apologize for any hurt I may have caused for being overly expressive. Maaf zahir dan batin.”
The affectionate photo has since been deleted from her Instagram account.
The “Cinta Masam Manis” actress is married to Adib Khalid, who is the stepson of songbird Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza. He was also present during the Raya get-together.
