Princess Eugenie (Prince Andrew’s daughter) will be walking down the aisle with Jack Brooksbank in October, but people are already talking about another royal wedding. It’s the first ever gay royal wedding!
Lord Ivar Mountbatten (pictured left), cousin to Queen Elizabeth, is set to tie the knot with his longtime partner James Coyle (on the right) in Devon.

Ivar came out in 2016 to announce that he was dating James, making him the first member of the royal family to do so. He was previously married to Lady Penelope Thompson (they were married for 16 years) and have 3 daughters – Ella, Alix and Luli – together. Initially, he wasn’t keen on getting married again “because I’ve been there, done that, and have my wonderful children” but he “really wanted to do it for James”.
In an extra modern-twist, it was revealed that ex-wife Penny will be the one to walk him down the aisle. “It was the girls’ idea. It makes me feel quite emotional. I’m really very touched,” Penny was quoted as saying. The intimate ceremony will take place in the private chapel on Ivar’s estate with approximately 120 guests.
“I was driven into the closet by not wanting to come to terms with who I was and facing friends and family in the early years. I buried it. I even had girlfriends as I tried to work out what I wanted to be. It was not an easy time in my teens or twenties. I’m just so pleased now to have found someone who I am happy to call my partner,” said Ivar.
Congrats to the couple 😉
