The 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards was a huge moment for “Black Panther”. The Marvel blockbuster won best movie, while Chadwick Boseman took home 2 prizes and Michael B. Jordan won for his super good supervillain performance.

Host Tiffany Haddish addressed some of the many firsts this year. “It’s been a year of firsts for black people. I’m the first black woman to host the MTV Movie and TV Awards. ‘Black Panther’ is the 1st African-American movie to make a billion dollars. And ‘The Quiet Place’ is the 1st film to scare black people outta talking’ in movie theatres just for real,” the comedian said during her opening monologue.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards has gone completely gender-neutral, meaning there is no specific categories for men or women. Gender-specific categories for its acting awards were removed last year.
