Malaysia’s very own Bukit Jalil National Stadium has recently been named as the Stadium of the Year at the 2018 World Stadium Congress Awards in Amsterdam.
The majestic stadium which features a capacity of 87,411 has won over three other stadiums from France including U Arena, Stade de France and Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux.
Officially opened in 1998, Bukit Jalil National Stadium is kown to be the largest stadium in Southeast Asia and the ninth largest football stadium in the world.
“We are very honoured to announce that the glorious National Stadium has won the Stadium of the Year (Existing) Award at the World Stadium Congress Awards 2018 that took place from 7-9 May 2018 at the Amsterdam Arena,” KL Sports City shared on their Instagram.
The stadium has previously held major events including the 1998 Commonwealth Games, the 2007 Asian Cup, 2001 Southeast Asian Games and the 2017 Southeast Asian Games, and also exhibition matches with Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and more.
