NU’EST Dongho has been cleared of all sexual harassment charges by the prosecution, reported Star News today (Monday, 16th April).
This marks the end of the 8-month legal battle, in which he was accused of sexually harassing an unnamed female.
A representative from his label, Pledis Entertainment, released a statement saying, “We received a statement today from the prosecution that Kang Dongho has been ruled free of all charges.”
Accusations first surfaced in June 2017, when an internet community user claimed that she was inappropriately touched by the singer when he was a middle school student in 2009.
She explained that she kept quiet all these years as he rarely appeared on television during his promotions as a NU’EST member. However, as he started to gather attention through “Produce 101”, she found it more difficult to live with the pain and decided to make things public.
Police investigated the case before forwarding it to prosecution in September last year.
The NU’EST member never publicly spoke of the case, but his label has repeatedly denied involvement and threatened to take legal action against false rumours and malicious posts. Pledis Entertainment also released a detailed statement explaining their stance and maintaining Dongho’s innocence shortly after accusations surfaced.
