2 days ago, we announced that Warner Bros. has been looking to cast a big name actress to play the villainess Cheetah in the “Wonder Woman” sequel. It looks like they have their eyes set on Kristen Wiig.
According to Deadline, the 44-year-old comedic actress is currently the frontrunner to take on the role of Wonder Woman’s feline foe. This comes after Academy Award-winning star Emma Stone reportedly passed on the opportunity.
While Warner Bros. hasn’t commented anything on the potential casting, insiders claim that Wiig was high on the list of director Patty Jenkins’ list. Variety also reported that the “Saturday Night Live” star has been meeting with top execs to discuss her potential role. “Wonder Woman 2” would mark her first venture into the comic-book realm should she accept the DC super villain role.
Wiig probably isn’t everyone’s first choice to play Cheetah though. Best known for her comedies like “Bridesmaids” and “Ghostbusters”, many DC fans aren’t sure how to feel about Wigg being the top choice for Cheetah. But if Jenkins is on board with this, we think the entertainer has more than earned the benefit of the doubt.
