Lee Chong Wei’s biopic, “Lee Chong Wei: Rise of the Legend”, will debut in local cinemas next month. However, that’s not the film that has been trending online lately.
Yesterday (Tuesday, 13th February), reports claim that a sex tape of the national badminton ace had gone viral on the internet. “It is not me,” the 35-year-old Malaysian’s answer was short but simple. It’s apparently someone else’s “shuttlecock”.

“My movie is coming out and this is some of the ways that some people are trying to bring my name into disrepute,” said Chong Wei. He continued, “I’ve lodged a police report (at the Menara KPJ Healthcare Bhd at Jalan Tun Razak). I want to clear my name and I want the police to get the culprit.”
When asked about his wife (Wong Mew Choo)’s take on this incident, the national hero replied, “She would have been upset if the person in the video was me. It’s not me. She is just disappointed that people are going to this extent to mar my image. She knows I’m faithful to her.”

“I’m used to this – it’s not the first time that people tried to undermine me. People always try to paint a negative image when you are at the top. I will not let it affect me,” the three-time Olympic Games silver medallist added.
Chong Wei initially thought it was a joke when the 11-minute sex video clip was sent to him on Monday (12th February). “So many people have been calling to confirm if it was me, and I had to laugh it off. Initially I had no plans of acting on it, because really it’s just a waste of time,” he recalled. However, when things started to get out of hand, that’s when he took action.

In other news, Chong Wei is also currently gearing up to defend his title at the All-England in Birmingham next month.
