Step forward thrill-seekers, it’s time to enter The Rift and exit reality.
The first ever hybrid Virtual Reality (VR)/ Augmented Reality (AR) theme park in Malaysia has just opened in Mid Valley Megamall! Located on the third floor beside Celebrity Fitness, The Rift covers 40,000 square feet and houses over a dozen out-of-this-world attractions.
The Rift offers a unique gaming experience where physical activity meets the latest immersive technology. The new theme park is broken up into 3 sections – Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality and E-Sports, Physical VR / AR, as well as The Rift Junior (which caters to children aged 12 and below).
Although there are more than a dozen virtual worlds and attractions inside The Rift, let us draw the spotlight on 5 must-try activities when you visit the venue.
1. Zero Latency
- As a VR shooter, the player will struggle to survive a zombie apocalypse in Outbreak or Zombie Survival or organise a rescue mission to extract survivors from a spaceship in Singularity.
2. Motion Blaster
- Experience a 4D ride in a windy setting where destroying the predators won’t be so easy.
3. RaceRoom
- Think you’re a pro driver? Put your skills to the test in a state-of-art car racing stimulator complete with surreal sounds and effects.
4. Hurricane VR
- This may not be for the faint hearted. Hurricane VR straps you up and takes you on a 360-degree flying adventure through a virtual universe.
5. HADO Malaysia
- Thanks to a combination of AR technology, motion sensor, head-mounted device and smartphone, players (in teams of 3) will possess powers that you see in games and experience fighting like never before.
In addition, visitors will also get to brave through the Minotaur’s maze in VR Adventure, experience a combo of rock climbing and augmented reality at the HoloWall section. Early birds will get to enjoy an opening promotional pricing of RM98 for The Rift package. Alternatively, you may go with the Exit Reality package, which costs RM55.
