About a week ago, both locals and tourists in Bali were shocked by the eruption of Mount Agung, forcing thousands to evacuate their homes, hundreds of flights to be cancelled, and resulting in the closure of both Bali and Lombok airports.
While many flocked to safety to stay away from the volcanic debris, a number of Instagrammers decided to use this opportunity to take a once-in-a-lifetime photo with the volcano in the background.
Here are some of the snaps found on Instagram:

Repost : @kashlee_k at mount agung – Travel can be unpredictable. 🌋On Tuesday we are supposed to be flying into Bali….. Mount Agung is currently spewing lava and ash all over the island, displacing locals and stranding tourists. We head to Brussels in a few days with a level of uncertainty about what might happen. Will we be stranded in Belgium for a few days? Weeks? Will Bali be inaccessible or unsafe to travel to? Are we going to have cancel? Or stay patient and pray for the best? Lots of questions spinning through my mind! . My number one concern is for the people of Bali, especially those who live near the volcano, and their safety. 🙏✨When put into perspective my ‘travel problems’ are minuscule to the dilemma they are dealing with. This was our wedding gift (and Christmas gift!) to each other, so taking this trip has a lot of sentimental value to me. I know we can make beautiful memories anywhere, but I’m just being honest that I feel a little disheartened. . Sunday we will take the train to Brussels no matter what and see what happens from there. I’m sending positive vibes for the people of Bali and praying we can still make this journey a possibility.✌️ – – Photo cred: taken by @bezumaxx who is currently in Bali. #prayforbali #mountagung
