This year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), which was held at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday (27th August), is finally over! From Taylor’s long-awaited music video for “Look What You Made Me Do”, to Kesha’s powerful speech on suicide prevention, the prestigious annual event was one hell of a celebration.

The night’s biggest winner Kendrick Lamar, who opened the VMAs with a fiery performance (literally) of “DNA” and “Humble.”, won 6 Moonmen – “Video of the Year”, “Best Hip-Hop Video”, “Best Cinematography”, “Best Direction”, “Best Art Direction”, as well as “Best Visual Effects”. Upon receiving the “Video of the Year” award, the rapper said, “Thank you for allowing us to take our thoughts and our wild imagination to the next level.”

Furthermore, the night saw performances from host Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj, Fifth Harmony and rapper Gucci Mance, Ed Sheeran and Lil Uzi Vert, Rob Stewart and DNCE, Demi Lovato, Lorde, as well as Miley Cyrus. Also, Thirty Seconds To Mars frontman Jared Leto honoured Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington before playing his group’s new single, “Walk On Water”.

And last but not least, Pink (otherwise known as P!nk) took home the “Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award”. In her inspiring speech dedicated to her 6-year-old daughter Willow, the star talked about self-acceptance and social expectations.

“We take the gravel in the shell and we make a pearl. And we help other people to change so that they can see more kinds of beauty,” the “What About Us” singer told the crowd. “And you, my darling girl, are beautiful. I love you.”
