Oh, what splendid news 🙂
On Monday (25th July) night, Malaysian-born chef Diana Chan cinched the 2017 “MasterChef Australia” crown! According to The Sydney Morning Herald, she beat fellow finalist Ben Ungermann by just one point!
Furthermore, the Melbourne-based chef took home AUD250,000 (approximately RM847,000) in prize money, a stunning trophy, as well as a monthly food column in “Delicious” magazine.
She also hopes to open a “fresh and casual” restaurant in inner Melbourne. “It’s something I always dreamed of but never thought would happen,” she said, adding, “I definitely want to have Malaysian influences. But balanced, wholesome and delicious – that’s my criteria.”
29-year-old Chan, who currently works as an accountant, was born in Johor Bahru but moved to Melbourne 10 years ago. She is the 2nd Malaysian-born winner of the cooking reality show as Penang-born Adam Liaw nabbed the crown in the 2nd season.
Congratulations, Diana! Malaysia is truly proud of you. #MalaysiaBoleh ?
