In the words of Straits Food Company, “all good things come to an end”.
Another popular eatery in the Klang Valley bites the dust. Straits Food Company took to Facebook yesterday (Sunday, 16th July) to share that it was their last day of operation before closing down.
The statement of their Facebook reads:
“Dear friends of Straits Food Company, first off, thank you all for the love and support over the last 3 years that we have been in business. Your constant posts, comments and constructive criticism in social media whether on FB or Instagram or blogs or in person have been invaluable to us in our journey as a business. We LOVE the fact that Straits Food Company has become a place where people regardless of background or status have been able to hang out together.
“We have some sad news however, as yesterday was our last day of operation. Straits Food Company is closing down for business and will cease to operate at the 2 Jalan Abdullah Bangsar space from 16/7/17 onwards. It’s been an honour and a pleasure serving you. Again, thank you all. ?”
For years, Straits Food Company has been the hubbub for locals to come and enjoy authentic Nyonya cuisine. The kopitiam-like restaurant is well-known for serving both Peranakan hawker fare and rice dishes at reasonable prices. Popular favourites include Nyonya Laksa and Cendol.
No reason was given for their closing down, which left many patrons scratching their heads. However, Facebook commentator suggests that perhaps it’s just a change in the original management team that may result in a new name for the restaurant.
Are y’all sadden by Straits Food Company’s closure?
