Can you believe that it’s been 13 years since “The Incredibles” came out? Thankfully the sequel is almost upon us.
During last weekend’s D23 Expo, some early footage from “The Incredibles 2” was screened at the event and fans got a first look at it. Fandango managing editor Erik Davis tweeted that the number count of new superheroes came up to roughly 25.
In addition to our favourite super family – Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl, Violet, Dash, and Jack Jack – the world will also be replenish with people with super abilities. However, since it was merely a test footage, it remains unclear if all 25 new characters will appear in the upcoming sequel. But we know this much, fans will get to see new heroes “with amazing powers that rival The Incredibles”.
As for the timeline, Disney Pixar head John Lasseter shared that “The Incredibles 2” will pick off where the first movie left off. “It starts with the Underminer and a big old set piece. You know that at the end of the first movie when he comes up and you see the family dressed as superheroes, well that’s where start this movie,” he said.
The battle between Underminer and the Parr family at the beginning will be a fun way to start the film and reintroduce our beloved superhero family. While “The Incredibles” centred on Mr. Incredible’s journey to finding life as a hero again, the sequel is going to be all about Elastigirl.
Talk about girl power!
Since Mr. Incredible had his fair share of adventure during the first outing, perhaps it’s Elastigirl’s turn to find herself. That means her husband will probably be carrying out daddy duties and taking care of the baby.
Speaking of Jack Jack, fans learned that the infant can not only shoot laser beams out of his eyes, he is also able to walk through walls and can multiply at will.
Needless to say, the sequel will both be funny and action-packed. We can’t wait to learn more as we draw closer to its release date on 15th June 2018.
