A video of a wild police chase along Lebuh Campbell, Penang has gone viral.
The short clip, which was shared on a Facebook page called Penang Kini Press yesterday (Sunday, 2nd July), shows a white van being pursued by 3 police cars. Pedestrians can also be seen running for their lives as the van speeds through the narrow road.
But don’t worry, folks! There are no serious crimes in Penang and nobody was hurt because the dangerous car chase is actually part of a Hong Kong film shoot. According to a report by NST, the chase scene will be used in “Shock Wave” helmer Herman Yau’s (邱禮濤) upcoming action movie “The Leaker” (洩密行者).
It was also reported that Penang’s traffic police closed off the road from Saturday afternoon (1st July) until evening to make way for the movie’s filming. NST added that the production crew had already received permission from the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) to film the movie at various locations on the island.
Upon hearing the news, many netizen expressed their excitement for the movie and praised the stuntmen for their mad “jumping” skills. One Facebook user jokingly wrote, “The last guy in black tee should become Penang’s new goal keeper.”
“The Leaker” is a crime film that stars Hong Kong A-listers Julian Cheung (張智霖) aka Chilam, Francis Ng (吳鎮宇), and Charmaine Sheh (佘詩曼).
