The queen of K-Pop is finally back!
As promised, Lee Hyori (이효리) has dropped the music video for her pre-release track, titled “Seoul” (featuring Killagramz). This marks her first comeback in 4 years.
Taken off her 6th album “Black”, the gorgeous ballad tells the perspective of someone who looks back on the city of Seoul with conflicting emotions. It was also revealed that the singer wrote the lyrics of “Seoul” herself.
In a recent interview, she explained that “Seoul” represents the overall concept and emotions of her new album. “I lived in Seoul ever since I was 2-years old, for more than 30 years. I still had distant memories, although I had left the city,” said Hyori, who is currently living in Jeju Island.
The music video shows the singer in different Seoul landscapes such as a metro station, a rooftop, and an empty carpark. She can also be seen performing a contemporary dance at several locations.
Aside from “Seoul”, “Black”, which is slated for release on 4th July, consists of 11 other tracks including “White Snake”, “Love Me”, “Mute”, “Pretty” (tentative title), and “Diamond”.
Hailed by many as one of K-Pop’s best acts, Hyori made her debut in 1998 with the popular first-generation idol group Fin.K.L. She dropped her debut solo album “Stylist” in 2003, with the lead single “10 Minutes” becoming one of South Korea’s most popular songs. In October 2015, the Korean diva announced that she will take a 2-year hiatus as she wants to prioritise on other activities such as charities.
