#KLIAExpress: Save More Than RM30 When You Travel From KL Sentral To KLIA/KLIA2

Ever since the Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) KLIA Express increased its fare from RM35 to RM55 last year, travellers had to shoulder the extra cost of RM20. That’s quite a large sum, isn’t it?

What if we told you that you could save more than 50% when traveling to the airport using the KLIA Express? Don’t believe us? Here’s an alternative route for you to save some cash.

When traveling from KL Sentral to the airport:

  1. Purchase your train ticket to Putrajaya/Cyberjaya from KL Sentral. The ticket will cost RM14.
  2. Once you get off at Putrajaya/Cyberjaya, make your way to the counter and purchase your ticket for either KLIA or KLIA2. It’ll cost you RM9.40.
  3. The total expenditure will then total up to RM23.40 (RM14 + RM9.40). That would save you RM31.60 from the direct fare of RM55!

There’s also another option where you can travel from KL Sentral to Salak Tinggi, and then to KLIA/KLIA2. The total cost would come up to RM23.20. You can refer to the chart below and work out the math accordingly.

Having said that, the down side to switching trains would be time consuming. Each ERL requires 20-30 minutes of waiting time. If you’re traveling with another friend, we’d suggest taking a Grab or Uber.
