“You ain’t gonna burn my heart out..”
Nothing made our day more than watching Coldplay frontman Chris Martin belt out to Oasis’ 1995 chart-topper, “Don’t Look Back In Anger”, at the “One Love Manchester” benefit concert just a couple of hours ago.
For those of you who are not in the know, the concert was held at the Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground to benefit those who were affected by the Manchester Arena explosion. The attack, which happened just as Ariana Grande finished her set, killed 22 fans and injured more than 100.
The pop star rallied together her friends in the music industry to hold the “One Love Manchester” concert to raise funds for those affected. Performers include Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Take That, Pharrell Williams, Niall Horan, Miley Cyrus, Usher, Robbie Williams, Little Mix, and The Black Eyed Peas.
“One Love Manchester” also featured heartfelt video messages from Stevie Wonder, Dua Lipa, David Beckham, Demi Lovato, Kings of Leon, Rita Ora, and Kendall Kardashian.
The concert closed out with survivors taking the stage alongside Ariana Grande before a crowd that’s estimated to be at least 60,000 strong for “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.
According to Variety, “One Love Manchester” successfully generated $2.6 million in donations over the 3-hour period. All net ticket proceeds from the concert will benefit the “We Love Manchester Emergency Fund” created by the Manchester City Council and the British Red Cross.
