Back in January, there were rumours circulating that Nicole Scherzinger will be replacing Fergie in the Black Eyed Peas for a new record.
Earlier this week, the former Pussycat Dolls star officially debunked the rumour during her appearance on daytime TV show “The Real“.
“I’ve known the Black Eyed Peas for a long time. I’ve actually known Will(.i.am) for a really long time — he’s like a brother of mine. All the boys are like brother to me,” the 38-year-old beauty was quoted as saying.
Here’s an interesting trivia though: Scherzinger was initially asked to join the group before Fergie. But because she was already in a girl group called, Eden’s Crush, her team had to pass on the offer. “It’s okay, because I had a vision, and I was writing, and I wanted to do my own thing,” she explained.
She added, “It’s meant to be because I ended up in the dolls and Fergie was the perfect Pea — is the perfect Pea.” After the label went bankrupt and Eden’s Crush disbanded, Scherzinger went on to join the Pussycat Dolls in 2003.
Although there’s no word yet on a new Black Eyed Peas album, Fergie has been busy preparing for the release of her 2nd solo LP, “Double Dutchess”. Hopefully we’ll be getting some new music soon 😉
