Hosted by “Fast 8” star Ludacris and “Powerless” sweetheart Vanessa Hudgens, the 2017 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), which took place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday (21st May), was nothing short of extraordinary.
Not only did BTS become the first K-Pop group to win a trophy at the annual awards show, but Drake, who had 22 nominations, also took home 13 awards – beating Adele’s record for the most wins.
“I wanna say hold tight, Adele, ’cause when a new ting drops yeah you’ll fall back to get the record back,” he said during his acceptance speech.
Last name: Ever.
First name: Greatest.

Besides that, the event saw many amazing performances from some of the industry’s biggest names. The night opened with a 4-song medley by Nicki Minaj, Jason DeRulo, Lil Wayne, and David Guetta. After that, fans were treated to former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello’s live performance of her debut single “Crying in The Club”.
The show also featured a performance of “Castle On The Hill” by Ed Sheeran, “Versace on the Floor” by Bruno Mars, “Malibu” by Miley Cyrus, “Green Light” by Lorde, “Believer” by Imagine Dragons, and “Young” by The Chainsmokers.
But the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly Celine Dion and Cher’s unforgettable stages. While the Canadian songstress received a standing ovation for her powerful performance of “My Heart Will Go On”, 71-year-old Cher, who received the Icon Award, sang her hits “Believe” and “If I Could Turn Back Time”.
