Wanna know exactly how Miley Cyrus feels about Liam Hemsworth?
The 24-year-old singer is back in the music scene with a brand new single titled, “Malibu”. The love ballad is dedicated to her handsome Aussie fiance and serves as an ode to their happy times together in Malibu, California.
The breezy pop tune sees Cyrus going back to her country roots and signals a brand new music direction for the singer. It’s certainly a welcome since her voice has always been more suited for rock, folk, and country, instead of the the smoother arrangements of modern pop. Case in point: her rendition of “Jolene“.
In the carefree music video, Cyrus frolics in fields of flowers, flaunts her toned body on the beach, and takes in the beauty while the scenery around the waterfall. The visual also shows the happy pop star running by the ocean with a bunch of colourful balloons and playing with her adorable pet dog.
Cyrus may be the only person featured in the music video, but the presence of her leading man is very much felt. Her simple vocals and lovestruck lyrics reference the couple’s time apart when they split in 2013.
“I never would’ve believed you if 3 years ago you told me I’d be here writing this song” she sings on the track before touching on their reunion. She believes that Hemsworth was “there to save me/ And I wanna thank you with all of my heart/ It’s a brand new start/ A dream come true/ In Malibu.”
It’s nice to see the singer happy and centred throughout the clip. Another treasured item that was on display? Her engagement ring.
