2019 is going to be a magical year 😉
After announcing the release date for “Star Wars: Episode IX”, Disney has also unveiled the release dates for “Frozen 2” and the live-action remake of “The Lion King”!
“The Lion King” is slated for release on 19th July 2019 while “Frozen 2” will hit cinemas on 27th November 2019, which is the same release date as “Frozen” in 2013.
Directed by Jon Favreau, who also directed the live-action version of “The Jungle Book” (2016), “The Lion King” will star Donald Glover (otherwise known as Childish Gambino) as Simba and James Earl Jones will reprise his role as Mufasa. It was also reported that Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen are “in final negotiations” to voice Timon and Pumbaa. Besides that, Beyonce is Favreau’s top choice to play Nala, but she has yet to make a decision as she is pregnant with twins.
On the other hand, the highly-anticipated “Frozen 2” will see Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel reprise their roles as Princess Anna and Queen Elsa respectively. In case you forgot how popular “Frozen”, the film raked in almost USD1.3 billion in worldwide, making it the highest-grossing animated film of all-time. And that’s not all, the film earned 2 Oscars – “Academy Award for Best Animated Feature” and “Best Original Song”.
